On Friday 15 March 2019, the Boroondara Cricket Club held its 2018/2019 Season Awards Evening at which the Junior Section teams received team awards (batting, bowling and coach’s awards) and four special awards were presented.

One such award was the Best Junior Playing Seniors cricket for the 2018/19 season. The nominees for this award were Ollie Garlick, Hugo Abbott, Patrick Forrest and Jack Ball.

The winner of the award for the Best Junior Playing Seniors cricket for 2018/19 was awarded to Ollie Garlick.

Ollie played in the 16As as a “bottom ager” on Friday nights and scored 114 runs from 8 innings at an average of 19. His finest knock was against Kew in the last game of the season when he scored 48no. batting at 4.  

Ollie had a very good season in Seniors Cricket playing across the Seconds and the Firsts in between School cricket. In the Seconds Ollie played in 6 matches and made 109 runs at 21.80. He bowled 40 overs and took 6 wickets for 147 runs at an average 24.5. His best figures were 3/25. Ollie played his first game in the Firsts in the Macgibbon Shield this season and bowled very well taking 2/37 off 8 overs.
